Phoenix Golf - 6/07/06

Well, it looks like the Phoenix Crew has been officially relocated to Percy Warner golf course for at least the rest of this year. We had hoped to play at the McCabe course on Wednesday but were greeted with a big ole "This Nine Closed" sign as we were prepared to play our round. Looks like the north nine will be closed for a year or more so crews can work on the course. Off to Percy Warner we go. There seems to be a lot less drama getting on at this course anyway.

As far as the action on the course goes, the crew had a good week. Bus seems to have warmed up to his new clubs and especially his new driver. Mr. Don is knocking the cover off the ball. If Big A is within 20 feet of the hole (on the green or not) and has his putter in his hand, he's automatic. My score takes a beating when I pepper the card with doubles and triples among a few pars.

The guys did witness a little bit of Discovery Channel while walking down number nine. We teed off and started towards our balls when we noticed a doe walking around about 15 feet from us, paying us no mind. I turn to go retrieve my ball from behind a big oak on the other side of the fairway, when a hawk swoops down and tries to kick that deer's ass. She runs away only to be spooked by some other golfers in which she turns around and has to pass by the same tree the hawk was in again. She did not hang around under there very long at all. All in all, I think Mr. Don should be glad the doe was there or he could have been the recipient of a good woopin'. That would have made for a pretty interesting post on my blog.

On a totally different subject, check out the boat and rig Big A has set up for us for our fishing trip in July. Talking about roughing it....
